Manuscript Submission

The Journal of Environmental Education (JEE) invites submissions of unpublished articles about research; program evaluations; review articles; critical essays/analyses and commentaries. JEE seeks to publish material that advances the instruction, theory, methods, and practice of environmental education (EE) and communication. It publishes articles dealing with EE at all levels, from primary to college and adult education. Subject areas include the sciences, social sciences, and humanities.

Research Articles
A research article can be based on qualitative or quantitative paradigms and must include a 100-word abstract, 3 to 6 short key words, a problem statement, a review of relevant literature, a description of research methods and methodology results, a discussion, and a summary. In the summary, where conclusions are made, the argument must be supported by appropriate research methods and documentation. Recommendations or conjecture are encouraged, if they are identified as such.

Program Evaluations
JEE seeks manuscripts about programs and initiatives that demonstrate innovative advances in the field. Articles should state goals and objectives, document what was done and the results, evaluate effectiveness, and describe the relevance and implications for other practitioners. These evaluations should not make unsubstantiated claims.

Reviews
Reviews cover numerous formats, including educational materials (books, films, videos, software, course designs, curricula) or reviews of research project results. The book review editor selects and approves all reviews.

Essays and Analyses
Critical essays and analyses related to policy, philosophies, theories, or historical perspectives are invited. These manuscripts should contain a strong EE component, supported by relevant sources.

Commentary
JEE will consider commentaries on critical issues in environmental education.

The Review Process
Two consulting editors with expertise in the appropriate field will referee and blind review each manuscript. Manuscripts are sent to the executive editor who has final authority regarding acceptances and rejections. Editors may suggest revisions, in which case the manuscript will be returned with a copy of the editors' suggestions. Revised manuscripts will be subject to an additional review.
