| Manuscript Submission The Journal of Genetic Psychology is devoted to research and theory in developmental psychology across the life span. Submissions may be in the areas of educational, clinical, cross-cultural, and comparative psychology provided they are implicitly developmental in nature. The major thrust of the journal is empirical research and the exposition and criticism of theory; however, applied and descriptive articles will be accepted occasionally, as well as brief reports, replications and refinements (typically, no more than 5 to 6 manuscript pages, including tables and references), and reviews of the literature. Prospective authors are particularly encouraged to make explicit the theoretical contribution of their research and to discuss implications for psychological theory as well as for applied clinical and educational practice. Studies of monograph length (40 or more manuscript pages) that are in areas appropriate to the journal would be welcomed by Genetic, Social, and General Psychology Monographs.
To submit a manuscript, go to http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/gnt. Create an account, log in, and go to the Author Center. Follow the guidance provided. If you need help in completing the submission, use Get Help Now, found at the top right corner of most Manuscript Central (MC) pages.
MC will prompt you to provide a submission letter, with a statement that the manuscript is not under concurrent consideration elsewhere and that you can vouch that the article is based on original research. In addition, the letter must state, where applicable, that (a) APA and IRB guidelines were followed in the treatment of participants, and (b) informed consent was granted by the participants and that they were debriefed. Each manuscript undergoes a blind review, a process that may require 2 to 3 months.
Manuscripts must adhere to the conventions of style and format described in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (5th ed., 2001). The checklist on pages 379—382 of the manual is especially helpful in preparing manuscripts for submission. Include a separate title page that lists the departmental affiliations of all authors. Provide the author identification notes on a separate page; include a complete mailing address for reprint requests. Figures (graphs and charts) must also be submitted through MC. Tables should be prepared exactly as they are to appear in the journal. Accepted manuscripts will be edited for clarity and adherence to APA and Heldref style rules.
The submitted article should be a Word file with minimal formatting, in Times or Times New Roman. Do not use electronic style sheets, forced section breaks, or automatic footnotes. Tables and figures should be in separate files; figures should be in their original source files.
