The Journal of Psychology: Interdisciplinary and Applied:
Manuscript Submission

The Journal of Psychology is an interdisciplinary journal that publishes empirical research and theoretical articles in applied areas of psychology including clinical, counseling, measurement/assessment, school, educational, industrial, and personnel psychology. In addition, interdisciplinary research that integrates psychology and other fields is also solicited (e.g., psychology and law, psychology and consumer behavior, psychology and religion).

Submissions should be characterized by methodological rigor, by effect sizes for inferential tests, and by reliability and validity information for all instruments, including measures of internal consistency.

Studies of monograph length in areas appropriate to this journal would be welcomed by Genetic, Social, and General Psychology Monographs.

To submit a manuscript, go to http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/heldref/jrl. Create an account, log in, and go to the Author Center. Follow the guidance provided. If you need help in completing the submission, use Get Help Now, found at the top right corner of most Manuscript Central (MC) pages.

MC will prompt you to provide a submission letter, with a statement that the manuscript is not under concurrent consideration elsewhere and that you can vouch that the article is based on original research. In addition, the letter must state, where applicable, that (a) APA and IRB guidelines were followed in the treatment of participants, and (b) informed consent was granted by the participants and that they were debriefed. Each manuscript undergoes a blind review, a process that may require 2 to 3 months.

Manuscripts must adhere to the conventions of style and format described in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (5th ed., 2001). The checklist on pages 379—382 of the manual is especially helpful in preparing manuscripts for submission. Include a separate title page that lists the departmental affiliations of all authors. Provide the author identification notes on a separate page; include a complete mailing address for reprint requests. Figures (graphs and charts) must also be submitted through MC. Tables should be prepared exactly as they are to appear in the journal. Accepted manuscripts will be edited for clarity and adherence to APA and Heldref style rules.

The submitted article should be a Word file with minimal formatting, in Times or Times New Roman. Do not use electronic style sheets, forced section breaks, or automatic footnotes. Tables and figures should be in separate files; figures should be in their original source files.

Each author receives free online access to the issue in which his or her article appears and permission to reproduce additional copies of that article. Contributors may order reprints at their own expense through Heldref Publications by contacting reprints@heldref.org
